Embodydance October Community Meeting minutes
Oct. 18, 2009
Present:
Denny, Duija, John, Lisa, Donna, Scott, Guthrie, Ishwari, Tracy, Anangua, Sea, Kevin
(I may be missing one person; reconstructing this from memory since we didn’t write down those attending when we were at the meeting. Apologies if I skipped you!
1. Minutes from 9/134/09 read and approved.
2. Financial update read, ytd. Profit of 114$ mas e menos.
3. Letter from Kathleen read, disengaging from meetings and administrative functions, still wants to be Facilitator.
4. Structure Committee Report
- Sea presents overview of committee report, new community meeting structure.
- Anangua presents the structure of community meeting
- Scott presents the heart/mind space behind new consensus procedure: consensus (-1); group decisions are enacted even if there is not a consensus to do so; one person can object and with the objection noted the group decision is still enacted.
There was a consensus to practice this new consensing procedure for 6 months at which time Scott will bring item up again for further consensusing.
Discussion about “membership” status for those attending future community meetings. (i.e. so that people just visiting the dance [tourists or people just "passing through" Santa Fe] can be stopped from participating in the meeting or blocking motions.)
Ishwari presents the proposal for an Executive Committee and a new General Manager position to be formed. Responsibilites of this position will include, but not be limited to, business transactions and interests and other managerial responsibilities. Term length undecided at this point. The proposed Executive Committee will meet once a month and set the agenda items for the Community meeting. Community members wanting to add an item to the agenda must email their item or give a written request to a member of the Executive Committee.
Consensed that the current position of Creative Director will be renewed every two months until the new structure is created and in place, at which time that position will no longer exist.
5. Group discussion around the idea to pay the position of web master. TBC (to be consensed) at next Community meeting.
5a. It was consensed that the Structure Committee can meet again to further work out the new structure.
6. Sacred Space Committee Report
John, Donna & Lisa discuss the items on a handout from the committee. Lots on there.
Consensus to table the discussion/adoption of the Sacred Space Committee recommendations until the Nov. meeting.
7. Tracy reports on some PR items.
Proposed interview with 2 magazines: one local magazine and one national magzine with photographer to take pictures of dancers in a simulated dance in order to get really good photos.
Group consensed to allow Tracy, Gay and John to decide other publicity items for two months.
8. Pay increase up to $700 for facilitators for the Ojo Caliente retreat was approved/concsensed.
9. Approved, that Mishra receive 3 dance punch cards for the use of his speakers.
10. Group agreement that the work of the Structural and Sacred Space committees was thorough, thoughtful and in the best interest of the Embodydance organizational structure as well as the dance/dancers itself.
Other misc. items; some wacko (Kevin) went on about some cross dressing weirdness and also there was mention of dog leashes? And the doors will be chained shut at 7:15 sharp (just kidding, never proposed or considered).
